The position:

AMEWAS, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and talented Engineering Technician (EMI)-Journeyman to support Electromagnetic Environmental Effects. The salary range of this position is $50,000.00 - $85,000.00, and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.

A typical day as an Engineering Technician (EMI)-Journeyman may include:

  • Conducts Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI) tests
  • Installs System Under Test (SUT) in the shielded enclosure in accordance with the test plan and current test standards
  • Works with customer to verify that the SUT is operational
  • Defines failure criteria
  • Verifies that the detection system test equipment is in calibration/operating correctly
  • Performs setup and calibration measurements per the applicable standards
  • Executes tests and points out deviations resulting from equipment malfunction or observational errors
  • Develops test documentation (e.g., plans, procedures and reports)
  • Presents test results to internal and external customers
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships within the department
  • Interacts appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment
  • Performs other duties as necessary 

 

Must-haves:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent and technical school/military training in troubleshooting/testing electronic equipment
  • 3 years of relevant work experience
  • 3 years of experience conducting electronics tests and maintenance
  • Knowledge of electronic test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, receivers, antennas, amplifiers and/or multi-meters
  • Experience reading and understanding schematics/technical manuals
  • Ability to create, read and understand test plans
  • Ability to collect/present EMI test data
  • Proficiency in Windows OS and Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/Outlook/PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work independently
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working with Naval Aircraft
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-461, IEEE-299 and/or RTCA/DO-160 test standards
  • Experience with EMI/EMC test

Physical environment and working conditions:

The physical environment requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday.  Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.

 

The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site.  In some occasions, the employee may be required to report to offices or buildings near the work site.

 

The physical environment requires the employee to stand, walk and/or move throughout the workday, often bending over and picking up items less than 50 lbs.  This position may also require driving government vehicles.
