The Position:

AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Security Specialist-Junior to support Electromagnetic Environmental Effects. The salary range of this position is $70,000.00-$100,000.00, and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.

A typical day as a Security Specialist-Junior may include:

  • Climbs ladders and works beneath raised floors to test and adjust security system components
  • Creates access pass cards and maintains the system database
  • Performs as the alarm panel system administrator by adding and removing users, conducting minor troubleshooting, submitting service tickets and conducting alarm checks
  • Responds to system alarms
  • Creates repair tickets for government combination locks
  • Changes combinations on X-07, X-08, X-09, X-10 and S&G locks
  • Creates and maintains monthly SF701 and SF702 in accordance with installation regulations
  • Coordinates with contractors for service, repairs and upgrades
  • Interfaces with customer counterparts with tact, diplomacy and professionalism
  • Creates needed procedures for the secure and successful execution of assigned program(s)
  • Administers and controls classified material in accordance with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM)
  • Ensures AMEWAS is successful in customer security inspections for assigned programs


Must-haves:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of relevant work experience
  • 2 years of relevant work experience in handling classified material
  • Working knowledge and demonstrated application of the U.S. Government security standards of 32 Code of Federal Regulation Part 117 and NISPOM
  • Understanding of advanced security principles and government special security regulations
  • The ability to interface with customer counterparts with tact, diplomacy and professionalism
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • The ability to be geographically located within an hour from NAS Patuxent River 
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

 

Desired Skills:

  • Prior experience with access control, badging, Intrusion Detection System (IDS) operation, Automated Entry Control Systems (AECS) and the Department of Defense Lock Program
  • Active Government certification in security related to managing classified material and/or access to classified material
  • AA/AS Degree or equivalent experience in a security/business-related field

Physical Environment and Working Conditions:

The physical environment requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday.  Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.

 

The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site.  In some occasions, the employee may be required to report to offices or buildings near the work site.  In rare occasions, overnight travel may be required.  

 

The physical environment requires the employee to stand, walk and/or move throughout the workday, often bending over and lifting items up to approximately 50 lbs. This position may also require driving government vehicles.
