The position:

AMEWAS, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and talented Electrical Engineer (EMI)-Junior to support Electromagnetic Environmental Effects. This position is classified as AMEWAS labor category Electrical Engineer. This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.

A typical day as an Electrical Engineer (EMI)-Junior may include:

  • Prepares and conducts EMI/EMC tests using MIL-STD-461 standards
  • Preforms installs of the System Under Test (SUT) in the shielded enclosure in accordance with the test plan and current test standards
  • Works with customer to verify that the SUT is operational and define failure criteria
  • Verifies that the detection system test equipment is in calibration and is operating correctly
  • Performs setup and calibration measurements per the applicable standard
  • Executes tests and points out deviations resulting from equipment malfunction or observational errors
  • Develops test documentation (plans/procedures/reports) and presents test results to internal and external customers
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships within the department
  • Interacts appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment
  • Performs other duties as necessary

 

Must-haves:

  • BS Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or other related field
  • Prior knowledge of typical EMI/RF lab test equipment (Spectrum Analyzer, Oscilloscope, Receivers, Antennas, Amplifiers, Multi-meters, etc.)
  • Ability to read and understand schematics and technical manuals
  • Ability to create, read and understand an EMI test plan
  • Ability to collect and present EMI test data
  • Proficient in Windows OS and Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/Outlook/PowerPoint)
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance


Desired Skills:

  • Background/Education in Communication Systems, Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), Radar Systems, Electronic Warfare Systems, Electromagnetic (EM) field measurements, E3 testing or Antenna/Receiver design
  • Familiar with Agilent VEE, R&S EMC32 and TILE software
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-461, IEEE-299 and/or RTCA/DO-160

Physical environment and working conditions:

The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site.  In some occasions, the employee may be required to report to offices or buildings near the work site.

 

The physical environment requires the employee to stand, walk and/or move throughout the workday, often bending over and picking up items less than 50 lbs.
