The position:
AMEWAS, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and talented Field Engineer (Safety of Flight)-Journeyman to support Advanced Aircraft Research, Development, Test & Evaluation.The salary range of this position is $75,000.00 to $140,000.00, and is commensurate with experience. This position is eligible for remote work as needed.

A typical day as a Field Engineer (Safety of Flight)-Journeyman may include:

  • Travels up to 80% of the year
  • Conducts Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) safety of flight tests on F-35 and other airborne systems and component
  • Sets up test configurations, install instrumentation and ensures the proper functioning of test equipment for EMC testing
  • Performs data collection during tests, analyzes results and provides detailed reports on electromagnetic interference (EMI)/compatibility issues
  • Works closely with engineers, designers and other team members to address EMC concerns and implement solutions for compliance with safety of flight requirements
  • Identifies and troubleshoots EMC issues that may arise during testing, providing recommendations for corrective actions
  • Maintains accurate records of test procedures, results and any modifications made during the testing process
  • Stays informed about relevant industry standards, regulations and safety requirements to ensure all testing activities comply with applicable guidelines

Must-haves:
  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Kowledge of basic understanding of electrical principles
  • Ablity to demonstrates knowledge in EMI/EMC testing within an aerospace or test and evaluation context
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations
  • Prior experience operating and troubleshooting EMI/EMC test equipment
  • Possesses strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Possesses meticulous attention to detail
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Security Clearance

Desired Skills:
  • Associate's Degree in a related field
  • Prior military experience or commercial aircraft systems
  • Knowledge of RF (radio frequency) principles
  • Familiar with software tools used in EMI/EMC testing

Physical environment and working conditions:
The physical environment requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday.  Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.

The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site.  In some occasions, the employee may be required to report to offices or buildings near the work site.  Overnight travel is required.

The physical environment requires the employee to stand, walk and/or move throughout the workday, often bending over and picking up items less than 50 lbs.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
