Description
AMEWAS Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Network Administrator to support a major Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) facility at NAS Patuxent River, MD. This position involves applying system engineering and computer networking principles to the development, design, and integration of hardware and software systems associated with local, regional and wide area networks, and systems that process and route voice, video, data, and imagery information. This Network Administrator primarily supports the second shift (14:30-24:00)

A typical day as the Network Administrator:
  • Supporting flight operations in a UAV development environment
  • Configuring network equipment to support specific testing objectives
  • Providing troubleshooting and corrective actions in the event of network errors during flight testing
  • Maintaining network equipment to DoD/Navy/DISA security standards
  • Applying software updates and maintaining systems in STIG compliance
  • Conducting research and testing state-of-the-art information technologies
Qualifications and Experience:
  • 2 years’ as a Network Administrator OR Systems Engineering experience
  • Experience using IP routing protocols (OSPF & BGP), LAN switching technologies and WAN technologies in support of satellite communications systems and network engineering.
  • Familiarity with network security countermeasures, including firewalls, access control lists, intrusion detection, and encryption devices is also required.
  • US Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain DoD TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance
 
Education & Certifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Level II DoDI 8570 certification
  • Brocade, Cisco and/or Juniper network certifications are highly desired
