The Position:

AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Systems Engineer (Tester)-Journeyman to support Digital and Electro Magnetic Spectrum. The salary range of this position is  $120,000.00 - $150,000.00, and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.

A typical day as a Systems Engineer (Tester)-Journeyman may include:

  • Leads a multi-disciplinary team of program office personnel in the identification of system requirements
  • Provides clear and unambiguous requirements from government artifacts to the platform prime contractor & Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) artifacts
  • Makes occasional corrections and ensures requirements trace into the designs for F-35 EW systems along with the test, evaluation and analysis of system performance
  • Serves as a Functional and Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) in countermeasures, electronic warfare, software architecture and sensors
  • Evaluates integrated systems for managing industrial production processes, including human work factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics/material flow, cost analysis and production coordination
  • Conducts research and interviews SMEs to gather information for incorporation into technical documentation
  • Interacts with OEM engineering leadership to review and comment on technical artifacts to provide technical input to the OEM project execution and provide awareness to Joint Program Office leadership
  • Provides oversight of OEM testing and verification of contracted F-35 EW capabilities
  • Serves as an integral part of the test team by providing oversight of test planning, obtaining required test resources and participating in test conduct
  • Reviews and provides corrections to test reports in accordance with Joint Program Office policies
  • Documents any defects found during testing independently and separately from the OEM using government information technology networks and resources
  • Reviews/Provides comments on configuration change requests to the EW IPT lead at the end of each test segment/period prior to an Engineering Review Board (ERB)
  • Writes and updates intermediate and final technical documents including system requirements and design specifications/documents, white papers and engineering notes
  • Leads project-related milestone reviews, status and design meetings, etc.
  • Hosts/Conducts technical meetings and teleconferences
  • Uses Microsoft Office Suite programs
  • Uses excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, non-verbal, written and listening) when engaging with staff/customers and preforms organizational level communications for both formal and informal circumstances
  • Works independently in a team environment or leads a small team
  • Travels 25%to 50% of the time to alternate sites–Travel within the Continental United States will be required

 

Must-haves:

  • MS/MA Degree in Engineering or a relevant technical discipline: An additional 4 years of relevant work experience with a BS/BA degree may qualify
  • 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience working as an F-35 Integrated Product Team (IPT) lead
  • Knowledge of F-35 EW systems design
  • Experience with EW software architecture and sensors
  • Experience with EW test report creation
  • The ability to write/update intermediate and final technical documents including system requirements and design specifications/documents, white papers and engineering notes
  • Experience with System Performance Assessment Reports (SPARS) documenting system performance against requirements and tracking issues that need resolution during the development and testing phases of defense systems
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite programs such as MS Project, MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, non-verbal, written and listening) when engaging with staff/customers and organizational level communication for both formal and informal circumstances
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Security Clearance-Secret Clearance required to start

 

Desired Skills:

  • Engineering Degree
  • Experience with MBSE
  • Experience with SYSML

Physical Environment and Working Conditions:

The physical environment requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday.  Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.

 

The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site. In some occasions, the employee may be required to report to offices or buildings near the work site. Overnight travel will be required.
