The Position:

AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Engineer (NERF)-Junior to support Electromagnetic Environmental Effects. The salary range of this position is $70,000.00-$80,000.00, and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.

A typical day as an Engineer (NERF)-Junior may include:

• Works with multiple electrical engineers and engineering technicians
• Develops engineering procedures and controls/Identifies solutions to problems
• Interfaces with program contractors, vendors and government representatives regarding the technical aspects of engineering projects, test scheduling/planning and test conduct
• Researches, designs and integrates high power transmitter systems
• Operates and maintains high voltage equipment used to perform electromagnetic capability testing
• Plans and conducts electromagnetic capability simulation testing, data collection, processing and analyses
• Identifies system malfunctions and coordinates repair/maintenance requirements

Must-haves:

• BS Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or equivalent
• Ability to work both indoors (70%) and outdoors (30%)
• Knowledge and experience using electronic test equipment
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications, to include MS Word, Outlook, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
• The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

Desired Skills:

• Experience with RF systems including but not limited to radars and magnetrons
• Experience using high power systems
• Familiarity with Electromagnetic Capability (EMC) testing

Candidates must have a customer-focused attitude with a high level of professionalism and discretion, and have the ability to work effectively with both management, and as part of a team, to meet project targets.

Physical Environment and Working Conditions:

The physical environment requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday.  Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.

The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site.  In some occasions, the employee may be required to report to offices or buildings near the work site.  In rare occasions, overnight travel may be required.  

The physical environment requires the employee to stand, walk and/or move throughout the workday, often bending over and lifting items up to approximately 50 lbs. and/or operating machinery to assist in the movement of heavy objects, such as forklifts and dollies.  This position may also require driving government vehicles.
