The Position:
AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Electrical Engineer (Pulsed Power)-Journeyman to support Electromagnetic Environmental Effects. The salary range of this position is $85,000.00 - $140,000.00 and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.

Position Background:
The Integrated Battlespace Simulation and Test (IBST) Department’s E3 facility is the center of excellence in aircraft E3 Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation. Our state-of-the-art laboratories specializes in a variety of capabilities, ranging from box level to complete system level testing. The E3 vision is to be dedicated to improving current and future DoD Test & Evaluation capabilities; in simulation of operational and threat environments, high-energy physics and directed energy weapons by empowering the workforce to approach solutions from outside of the box. With IBST at the helm, we're not just preparing for the future but shaping it.
A typical day as an Electrical Engineer (Pulsed Power)-Journeyman may include:
- Works with the pulser team in both outdoor and indoor lab environments to prepare/execute test activities in support of MIL-STD-3023 High-Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse testing of various military aircraft, weapon and communication systems
- Builds, operates and troubleshoots electromagnetic pulse simulators, high voltage/high current equipment and specialized components
- Calibrates, maintains and organizes specialized test equipment
- Researches and develops current electromagnetic pulse simulators and subsystems to improve reliability and performance
- Interacts and coordinates with customers, contractors, subcontractors, technical leads, program managers, supervisors and executive supervisors to perform roles/responsibilities
- Conducts maintenance on the pulser support systems and facilities
Must-haves:
- BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics: Similar ABET accredited degree related to pulsed power engineering, applied electromagnetics, high energy physics, etc. may qualify
- 3 years of relevant work experience
- Knowledge of pulse forming networks involving high voltage pulsed power supplies and fast switching devices from a theoretical/practical standpoint
- Knowledge of analog and digital technologies
- Experience using electronic test equipment such as Oscilloscopes, VNA’s, etc.
- Experience using various hand and power tools
- The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
Desired Skills:
- Experience performing magnetic and electrical field analysis of pulse forming networks using field sensors, fiber optics, oscilloscopes and signal processing software
- Familiarity with engineering design tools such as MATLAB, LABVIEW, CAD software (AutoCAD or Solidworks), Circuit Modeling Software (Pspice or equivalent), etc.
- Experience with pulsed power

Physical Environment and Working Conditions:
The physical environment for this position requires the employee to work in the field for a majority of their day, on site versus in an office. The physical environment also requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for part of the day.
The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site or near the work site. On rare occasions, overnight travel may be required.
The employee is required to stand, walk and/or move throughout the workday, often bending over and lifting items up to approximately 50 lbs. Operation of machinery to assist in the movement of heavy objects, such as forklifts and dollies, may be required. This position may also require driving government vehicles.
