The Position:
AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Software Developer-Junior to support Battlespace Modeling & Simulation. The salary range of this position is $80,000.00 - $105,000.00, and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.

Position Background:
The Synthetic Environment Modeling (SEM) team develops the government owned, developed, and managed software product known as Next Generation Threat System (NGTS). NGTS supports modeling and simulation (M&S) environments; trainer systems; test and evaluation (T&E); analysis; live, virtual
and constructive (LVC); research and development (R&D) activities for DoD agencies and its international partners. The Next Generation Threat System product is a continually evolving synthetic environment generator that supports multiple platform/services training, testing, analysis and research, and development.
A typical day as a Software Developer-Junior may include:
- Develops software that is integrated into a computer-generated threat test environment for an advanced synthetic training environment
- Supports software development, software integration, customer training and demonstrations in an ever-evolving test environment
- Supports specific objectives in large force strikes including air, surface, space and subservice arenas
- Demonstrates a knowledge of standard programming algorithms, design patterns and object-oriented software designs
- Evaluates and reviews C++ language code
- Programs using C++, Python 3 and HTML with customer defined use cases to provide rapid design feedback for accomplishing customer goals
- Develops parallel processes, threading and process communications
- Develops web-based applications using development technology
- Collaborates with team members to design future enhancements
Must-haves:
- BS Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, Aerospace, Computers, Software Systems, Electrical, Electronics or Mechanical Engineering with at least 1 year of C++ experience
- 1 year of relevant work experience
- Experience with scripting, database and programming languages such as C++
- The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Special Access Program (SAP) Access
- The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
Desired Skills:
- Experience with scripting, database and programming in Python 3 and HTML
- Experience supporting Special Access Program (SAP) efforts

Physical Environment and Working Conditions:
The physical environment requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday. Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.
The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site. In some occasions, the employee may be required to report to offices or buildings near the work site. In rare occasions, overnight travel may be required.
