The Position:

AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Engineer (Datalink)-Journeyman to support Battlespace Modeling & Simulation. The salary range of this position is $85,000.00 - $145,000.00 and is commensurate with experience. This position is eligible for hybrid work.

Position Background:

The Synthetic Environment Modeling (SEM) team develops the government owned, developed, and managed software product known as Next Generation Threat System (NGTS). NGTS supports modeling and simulation (M&S) environments; trainer systems; test and evaluation (T&E); analysis; live, virtual and constructive (LVC); research and development (R&D) activities for DoD agencies and its international partners. The Next Generation Threat System product is a continually evolving synthetic environment generator that supports multiple platform/services training, testing, analysis and research, and development.

A typical day as an Engineer (Datalink)-Journeyman may include:

• Designs, documents, implements and tests Datalink Simulation Models and associated simulator hardware
• Performs datalink software development in C++ based upon customer requirements
• Performs technical review of customer requirements and participates in test planning meetings
• Develops test plans, procedures and schedules
• Executes test events, collects data, conducts analysis and creates reports
• Operates data link systems and equipment
• Collaborates with team members
• Interfaces with datalink models
• Works with industry, SMEs and operators to push state of the art simulation used for platform operational testing and high-end training

Must-haves:

• BS Degree in Science or Engineering Discipline: Aerospace, Computer Science, Data Science, Software Systems, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Information Technology, Mathematics or Physics with at least 3 years of C++ experience
• 3 years of relevant work experience
• Experience with Datalink Link 16
• Knowledge of basic computer networking
• Knowledge of computer system design and software development in C++
• The ability to communicate and present technical details verbally and in writing
• The ability to accommodate a hybrid schedule (1-2 days a week in office) with a mandatory 2-3 month on site training period (Managers discretion)
• The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

Desired Skills:

• Experience with C Band, Ku Band or Common Data Link
• Experience with Link 11 and OTH Gold
• Experience with SADL, JREAP, Link-22, VMF, CSAR/CSEL or MADL
• Knowledge of data analysis methods and tools
• The ability to evaluate emerging tactical communication technologies
• Experience with Linux Operating Systems

Physical Environment and Working Conditions:

The physical environment requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday.  Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.

The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site.  In some occasions, the employee may be required to report to offices or buildings near the work site.  In rare occasions, overnight travel may be required.
