The Position:

AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Software Developer (JSE Grid)- Journeyman to support Battlespace Modeling & Simulation. The salary range of this position is $100,000.00 - $155,000.00, and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.

Position Background:

Battlespace Division is a government organization comprised of four branches that are dedicated to providing enterprise level modeling and simulation (M&S) tools in support of warfighter training; test and evaluation (T&E); data analysis; live, virtual and constructive (LVC); research and development (R&D) activities for DoD agencies and its international partners. The tools include the Next Generation Threat System (NGTS), the Global Reusable Interface Domain (GRID), the Weapons Server Common Environment (WSCE), the Simulation Control Executive (SCE), the

Simulation Debrief Tool (SDT), and the Analysis and Reporting Tool (ART). The Battlespace Division designs, develops, documents and deploys these tools. The Battlespace Division also delivers these products as an integrated suite of tools called Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) Technical Baseline

(JTB); the battlespace for JSE.

 

A typical day as a Software Developer (JSE Grid)-Journeyman may include:

  • Designs, develops and evaluates code for real time modeling of environmental factors in a distributed battlespace simulation
  • Collaborates with team members
  • Interfaces with sensor models
  • Analyzes and profiles program performance
  • Works with industry, SMEs and operators to push the state of the art in simulation used for platform Operational Test and high-end training

 

Must-haves:

  • BS Degree in Computer Science or Engineering: Degrees in Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, Aerospace, Computer, Software Systems, Electrical, Electronics or Mechanical Engineering may qualify
  • 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with programming languages such as C++, C, Java, C# or Rust
  • Experience with Python scripting and algorithm development
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Special Access Program (SAP) Access
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

 

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with Linux, Git, modeling/simulation and distributed systems
  • Experience with statistics, college level calculus-based physics and linear algebra
  • Knowledge of signal processing, control theory and information theory

Physical Environment and Working Conditions:

The physical environment requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday.  Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.

 

The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site.  In some occasions, the employee may be required to report to offices or buildings near the work site.  Overnight travel will be required.
