The position:

AMEWAS, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and talented Wiring Quality Assurance Technician to support Aircraft Prototype System Division. This position is on a SCA contract which is subject to the terms and conditions of the McNamara-O’Hara Service Contract Act (SCA).

This position is classified as AMEWAS labor category Technician.

This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.

A typical day as a Wiring Quality Assurance Technician may include:

  • Performing electrical design, construction, installation and support of aircraft modification/aircraft prototyping designs to apply quality control/quality assurance measurement and inspection techniques/principles to ensure conformance of aircraft modifications/aircraft electrical modification designs and standards.
  • Performing in aircraft fabrication shops, on aircraft located local to NAS Patuxent River and at non-local sites.
  • Using expertise of vehicle modifications with particular emphasis on the electrical design, construction, installation and support of aircraft modification and aircraft prototyping designs.
  • Determining conformance of the products to drawings and/or technical specifications, then inspecting various components to given tolerances and call outs provided on documents.
  • Inspecting harness in-processes and installations associated with 027-16 HC-27J MPA, IAW the SAE AS50881 Rev: G and the NAVAVIR 01-1A-505-1 while following the APSD FOD and tool control program.
  • Preforming inspections that include but are not limited to crimps (pins, lugs, splices) and shield terminators.
  • Preforming final inspections that include but not limited to; continuity checks, assembly, wire routes (lane designation, color, chaffing, radius bends, strain relief) and harness security.
  • Measuring equipment including, but not limited to Multi-meter, Spectrum Analyzer, Bonding Meter, Calipers, Linear Scale.
  • Conducting studies and investigations, problem analysis, and developing logical/documented recommendations.
  • Ensuring conformance to mandated rules, regulations, policies and procedures as they pertain to air vehicle modifications.
  • Word processing and accessing design drawing files.

Must-haves:

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must obtain an IPC WHMA-A-620 certification within 60 days of start
  • Extensive knowledge of inspection/QA techniques and principles.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the full range of principles, related to one or more quality assurance functional programs
  • Comprehensive knowledge in interpreting and applying mechanical, aircraft structural and electrical system documentation to include CAD drawings and CAD files.
  • Comprehensive and thorough knowledge of commercial and military specifications, procedures and standards that govern electrical and mechanical modifications (Modifications performed on air vehicles for the purpose of installing first article prototyping systems).
  • Extensive knowledge of related engineering and scientific disciplines sufficient to interactively ensure the integrity of the design effort with the intended platform.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET security clearance

Physical environment and working conditions:

The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site.  In some occasions, the employee may be required to report to offices or buildings near the work site.  Ability to travel 20%-25% (Overnight) is required.

The physical environment requires the employee to stand, walk and/or move throughout the workday, often bending over and picking up items less than 50 lbs. and/or operating machinery to assist in the movement of heavy objects such as forklifts and dollies.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
