The Position:

AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Field Engineer (Safety of Flight)-Journeyman to support Advanced Aircraft Research, Development, Test & Evaluation. The salary range of this position is $75,000.00 - $140,000.00, and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.

A typical day as a Field Engineer (Safety of Flight)-Journeyman may include:

  • Travels up to 80% of the year
  • Conducts Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) safety of flight tests on F-35 and other airborne systems and components
  • Sets up test configurations, installs instrumentation and ensures the proper functioning of test equipment for EMC testing
  • Performs data collection during tests, analyzes results and provides detailed reports on electromagnetic interference (EMI)/compatibility issues
  • Works closely with engineers, designers and other team members to address EMC concerns and implement solutions for compliance with safety of flight requirements
  • Identifies and troubleshoots EMC issues that may arise during testing; provides recommendations for corrective actions
  • Maintains accurate records of test procedures, results and any modifications made during the testing process
  • Stays informed about relevant industry standards, regulations and safety requirements to ensure all testing activities comply with applicable guidelines

 

Must-haves:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of relevant work experience
  • A basic understanding of electrical principles
  • Experience in EMI/EMC testing within an aerospace or test and evaluation context
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations
  • Experience operating and troubleshooting EMI/EMC test equipment
  • Experience with 5th-generation aircrafts
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Security Clearance-Secret Clearance required to start

 

Desired Skills:

  • AS Degree in related field
  • Military experience or experience with commercial aircraft systems
  • Knowledge of RF (radio frequency) principles
  • Familiarity with software tools used in EMI/EMC testing

Candidates must have a customer-focused attitude with a high level of professionalism and discretion, and have the ability to work effectively with both management, and as part of a team, to meet project targets.

 

Physical Environment and Working Conditions:

The physical environment requires the employee to work in the field for a majority of their day, on site versus in an office. Employee will be required to stand, walk and/or move throughout the workday, often bending over and lifting items up to approximately 50 lbs. and/or operating machinery to assist in the movement of heavy objects, such as forklifts and dollies. Overnight travel will be required.

 

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
