The Position:

AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Engineering Technician (Facilities 2nd Shift)-Journeyman to support Electromagnetic Environmental Effects. The salary range of this position is $60,000.00-$85,000.00, and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.

A typical day as an Engineering Technician (Facilities 2nd Shift)-Journeyman may include:

  • Provides operations and maintenance support for Hangar 144 (shielded hangar), the Aircraft Anechoic Test Facility (AATF) and the Advanced System Integration Laboratory (ASIL)
  • Assists with coordinating, scheduling and providing for Test Project Engineers’ aircraft, facility use and Support Equipment (SE) needs
  • Delivers GSE to the Fleet Readiness Center (FRC) for preventative or unscheduled maintenance as required
  • Schedules and obtains GSE from FRC for project support
  • Maintains fueling ground support equipment
  • Assists in aircraft fueling operations
  • Purges aircraft
  • Connects and operates GSE carts for aircraft operation
  • Operates government equipment such as forklifts, man lifts, tugs and other equipment as required
  • Assists with crane rigging
  • Conducts facilities maintenance

 

Must-haves:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of experience working with aircraft
  • The ability to work 2nd shift (2:30 PM to 12:00 PM) after completing a mandatory day shift training period
  • Experience using hand tools
  • Comfortability with computers
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • A willingness to work overtime when required by testing schedule
  • The ability to be proactive and seek out work
  • A positive attitude and the ability to work well with others
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

 

Desired Skills:

  • A college degree or technical certification
  • Experience operating ground support equipment (GSE)
  • Experience operating forklifts and pallet jacks

 

Skills Crucial to Success at AMEWAS:

Candidates must have a customer-focused attitude with a high level of professionalism and discretion, and have the ability to work effectively with both management, and as part of a team, to meet project targets.

 

Physical Environment and Working Conditions:

The physical environment requires the employee to work in the field for a majority of their day, on site versus in an office. The physical environment also requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for part of the day. In rare occasions, overnight travel may be required.  

 

Employee will be required to stand, walk and/or move throughout the workday, often bending over and lifting items up to approximately 50 lbs. and/or operating machinery to assist in the movement of heavy objects, such as forklifts and dollies.  This position may also require driving government vehicles.

 

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
