A typical day as Information Assurance Specialist:

Act as the Lead on preparing and sustaining Information System Security documentation using the Risk Management Framework (RMF) Assess and Authorize process on the Research Development Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) networks. Obtain and maintain approvals for Approvals to Operate (ATO’s), Interim Authorities to Test (IATT’s), Memorandums of Agreement’s (MOA’s), Interconnection Security Agreements (ISA’s) and Memorandums of Understanding (MOU’s) in accordance with C&A guidance from DoDI 8510.01 (DIACAP). Implement the NIST RMF. Assist with UNCLASS accreditation efforts as needed. Conduct risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and protection needs. Assist the ISSO in preparing for the Command Cyber Readiness Inspection (CCRI

Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum of 10 years relevant work experience
• DOD Secret Security Clearance

Education and Certifications:

• Bachelors
• Security+ CE
• Network+ CE
• Navy Qualified Validator
• Desired A+CE

Work Environment:

The physical environment requires the employee to work on-site at the government program office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday.  Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about walking, standing, etc.

The employee may be required to walk short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site.  In some occasions, the employee may be required to drive to offices or buildings near the work site.  In rare occasions, travel may be required.
