The Position:
AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Software Developer (DevOps)-Journeyman to support Battlespace Modeling & Simulation. The salary range of this position is $130,000.00 - $185,000.00 and is commensurate with experience. This position is eligible for hybrid work.

Position Background:
Product suite supports modeling and simulation (M&S) environments; trainer systems; test and evaluation (T&E); analysis; live, virtual and constructive (LVC); research and development (R&D) activities for DoD agencies and its international partners. All products are government owned, developed and managed. The Next Generation Threat System (NGTS) is a continually evolving synthetic environment generator that supports multiple platform/services training, testing, analysis and research and development.
A typical day as a Software Developer (DevOps)-Journeyman may include:
- Supports the team developing software for an advanced synthetic training environment
- Integrates software into flight simulators to support pilot training against potential threats
- Supports software development, software integration, customer training and demonstrations
- Implements new/upgrades existing automated build services that support development processes on both Windows and Linux systems
- Scales up capacity/utilization of automated building and testing
- Facilitates and grows the amount of automated testing used by the team
- Monitors, maintains and reports on the status of automated build and test services
- Develops/integrates tools as needed to improve developer efficiency
- Promotes best practices and technologies to the team and to team leadership
- Collaborates with IT team to maintain a strong security posture on systems
Must-haves:
- BS Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering: Degrees in Engineering, Math and Physics may qualify with at least 3 years of software build and scripting experience
- 3 years of relevant work experience
- 3 years of professional experience as a Software, IT or Systems Engineer with experience building and maintaining automated software development environments
- Proficiency with configuration management systems (specifically Git)
- Proficiency with integration tools such as GitLab CI or Jenkins
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Batch and/or Python
- Experience with containerization using Docker or Podman
- The ability to accommodate a hybrid schedule (1-2 days a week in office) with a mandatory 3-month onsite training period (manager discretion)
- The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Special Access Program (SAP) Access
- The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret SCI Security Clearance
Desired Skills:
- Strong ability to identify and solve problems across many different systems, applications and operating systems
- Excellent judgment, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication, collaboration and time management skills
- Familiarity with build systems such as CMake and Visual Studio
- The ability to read, understand, compile and debug C++ (11 or later) applications on Windows and Linux
- Experience with cloud services such as AWS or Azure
- Understanding of distributed computing and related architectures
- Familiarity with developing cross-platform software libraries or SDKs
- Familiarity with infrastructure management tools such as Ansible or Puppet
- Experience with flight simulation, modeling for simulation and graphics programming
- Experience supporting Special Access Program (SAP) efforts

Physical Environment and Working Conditions:
The physical environment for this position requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday. Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.
The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site or near the work site. Overnight travel will be required.
