The Position:
AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Software Developer (NGTS-LSI)-Senior to support Battlespace Modeling & Simulation. The salary range of this position is $130,000.00 - $185,000.00 and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.

Position Background:
The Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) Patuxent River is the enterprise-wide center of excellence for developing the DoD's premier modem warfare training and operational test bed system. The Next Generation Threat System (NGTS) is one of many products that make up JSE. NGTS is a continually evolving synthetic environment generator that provides tactical situation displays, parametric red/blue models, and Intelligence Center threats that create a threat dense and realistic combat environment. As the NGTS Lead Systems Integrator, you will work amongst a team of other product owners that develop the JSE Technical Baseline (JTB). JTB is a deployable DoD simulation suite with a bi-yearly delivery schedule. JTB is used across the DoD to train and operationally evaluate the DoDs most advance warfighters and systems against the latest in adversaries' intelligence assessed combat capabilities.
A typical day as a Software Developer (NGTS-LSI)-Senior may include:
- Integrates NGTS software releases into JTB development cycles and DevOps project layouts
- Understands dependencies of JTB products and their relationships to the environment
- Troubleshoots and characterizes NGTS issues for resolution by development teams
- Works with leadership and cross functional teams to understand and inform development strategies/architecture designs for NGTS development within JTB
- Performs hotfix software changes/builds required to fix critical issues
- Works in close concert with the project lead to inform SAFe cycles for NGTS development and JTB requirements
- Works in a dynamic environment at the very edge of advance software development in support of the frontline warfighter
- Understands flexibility, outlook and understanding of the position’s impact
Must-haves:
- BS Degree in Computer Science or Engineering; Degrees in Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, Aerospace, Computers, Software Systems, Electrical, Electronics or Mechanical Engineering may qualify
- 10 years of relevant work experience
- 10 years of experience developing using C++
- 5 years of experience with Linux
- Knowledge of standard programming algorithms, design patterns and object-oriented software design
- Experience with troubleshooting, debugging, maintaining and improving existing software code
- The ability to learn new processes quickly
- The ability to work in a very flexible and energetic-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Special Access Program (SAP) Access
- The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Security Clearance
Desired Skills:
- Experience with Lua
- Experience with networks
- Experience using Scaled Agile (SAFe) development methodologies
- Experience with Jira
- Basic understanding of military systems and purposes
- Experience supporting Special Access Program (SAP) efforts

Physical Environment and Working Conditions:
The physical environment for this position requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday. Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.
The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site or near the work site. On rare occasions, overnight travel may be required.
