The Position:

AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Software Developer (D&EMS)-Journeyman to support Digital and Electro Magnetic Spectrum (D&EMS). The salary range of this position is $95,000.00 - $135,000.00 and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.

A typical day as a Software Developer (D&EMS)-Journeyman may include:

  • Designs, develops and maintains high-quality, scalable .NET Core microservices for the NDDS platform
  • Leads the deployment and management of containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes/Amazon ECS/Fargate within the AWS IL6 environment, leveraging existing OpenShift experience
  • Implements and manages Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform to provision and configure AWS resources including networking, ECS clusters and database services
  • Integrates NDDS microservices with various enterprise services and AWS cloud services including MongoDB (with a view to DocumentDB), Splunk (with potential for CloudWatch), RabbitMQ (with potential for Amazon SQS), Keycloak (with potential for AWS Cognito), SMTP relays and Amazon S3
  • Establishes and maintains CI/CD pipelines using GitLab for automated build, test (XUnit, Cypress) and deployment of applications and infrastructure to the AWS IL6 environment
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to define, design and ship new features
  • Ensures compliance with IL6 security requirements and best practices
  • Contributes to the strategic innovation of the NDDS platform by evaluating and implementing AWS native services to enhance performance, scalability and cost-efficiency (e.g., Amazon API Gateway, Amazon DocumentDB, Amazon SQS, AWS CloudWatch, Amazon S3 Glacier)
  • Supervises computer programmers
  • Works at the customer's site with government personnel to ensure program success

 

Must-haves:

  • BA/BS Degree in a Computer Information Science field or relevant technical discipline: AA/AS Degree with an additional 4 years (11 years total) of relevant work experience may qualify: No qualifying Degree with an additional 6 years (13 years total) of relevant work experience may qualify
  • 7 years of relevant work experience
  • 7 years of experience with:
        • C#, .NET Framework and ASP.net
        • Microservices
        • GitLab and OpenShift
        • AWS (SQS, CloudWatch, API Gateway, S3, DocumentDB)
        • MSSQL, Oracle and MongoDB
  • The ability to travel up to 25% of the time
  • The ability to maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance-Secret Clearance required to start

 

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with SPLUNK
  • Experience with Kubernetes
  • Experience with Docker

Physical Environment and Working Conditions:

The physical environment for this position requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday.  Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.

 

The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site or near the work site. Overnight travel will be required.
