The Position:
AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Technical Writer-Journeyman to support Digital and Electro Magnetic Spectrum. The salary range of this position is $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.

A typical day as a Technical Writer-Journeyman may include:
- Writes technical materials such as test reports, equipment manuals, appendices or operating/maintenance instructions
- Assists in layout work
- Creates and maintains multiple documents associated with product deliveries including, but not limited to:
- Logistics, Configuration Management, Systems Engineering and Test for Domestic and Foreign Military Sales (FMS):
- Software Description Documents (SDD)
- Software Version Documents (SVD)
- Test and Evaluation (T&E)
- Test Plans and Interim Summary Reports (ISR)
- Interacts with internal teams and customers as needed to confirm the Software User Manuals (SUM) changes
- Supports regular/recurring interface meetings with the customers regarding domestic and FMS SUM versions
- Supports the reviews of product release recommendations
- Reviews/Provides updates to requirements, cyber and integration documents
- Assists in creating templates to help manage data appropriately
- Collaborates with other functional areas to verify the accuracy of data against program-specific artifacts
- Assists in the creation of other ad-hoc project-related documentation as needed
Must-haves:
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- 3 years of relevant work experience
- 3-10 years of experience writing technical material (test reports, equipment manuals, appendices or operating/maintenance instructions)
- The ability to assist in layout work
- The ability to create and maintain multiple documents associated with product deliveries including, but not limited to:
- Logistics, Configuration Management, Systems Engineering and Test for Domestic and Foreign Military Sales (FMS):
- Software Description Documents (SDD)
- Software Version Documents (SVD)
- Test and Evaluation (T&E)
- Test Plans and Interim Summary Reports (ISR)
- The ability to interact with internal teams and customers as needed to confirm the Software User Manuals (SUM) changes
- Experience supporting regular and recurring interface meetings with the customers regarding domestic and FMS SUM versions
- Experience supporting the reviews of product release recommendations
- Skills to review and provide updates to requirements, cyber and integration documents
- The ability to assist in creating templates to help manage data appropriately
- Proficiency in collaborating with other functional areas to verify the accuracy of data against program-specific artifacts
- Experience assisting in the creation of other ad-hoc project-related documentation as needed
- The ability to be trained to verify and coordinate Department of the Navy (DoN) Application and Database Management System (DADMS) submissions with Cyber Security
- Experience managing/monitoring/updating information from cybersecurity databases into program-related systems
- Experience in reviewing all active application components and associated versions active in the fleet
- Experience ensuring that applications are active in DADMS, not expired or about to expire
- Knowledge of updating all active component records to denote DADMS ID, current status of components and expiration in DADMS into related systems
- Background in maintaining information in program-related systems
- Experience performing technical writing tasks
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and experience working in a team environment
- Strong analytical and logical problem-solving skills
- The ability to work independently
- Self-starter and detail oriented mindset
- Advanced knowledge and use of Microsoft Office suite programs (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- The ability to maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance-Secret Clearance required to start

- Experience with SCRUM
- Experience with Arbortext
- Experience with S1000D

Physical Environment and Working Conditions:
The physical environment for this position requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday. Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.
The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site or near the work site. On rare occasions, overnight travel may be required.
