The position:

AMEWAS, Inc. is seeking an entry-level HR & Recruiting Assistant to support our Corporate Headquarters in California, MD. This position is a great opportunity for someone who is eager and willing to learn more about Human Resources and Recruiting professions in a fast-paced and high demand environment.  Because of the nature of this position, the candidate must be able to work and protect confidential employee & company information.  Strict attention to detail is a must to succeed in this role.

This position is classified as AMEWAS labor category Administrative Assistant.

Under direction of the HR Manager and in coordination with the Recruiter and HR Generalist, a typical day as a HR & Recruiting Assistant may include:

  • Drafting and posting requisitions to AMEWAS website and job boards
  • Conducting phone screenings & administering employment verifications through our 3rd party vendor
  • Coordinating interviews between candidates and hiring managers
  • Reviewing Company benefits package with candidates
  • Drafting offer letters
  • Preparing new hire folders and AMEWAS swag bags; mailing to locations outside of Maryland
  • Downloading new employee forms from Applicant Stack and organizing prior to first day
  • Drafting Hot Jobs announcements using Canva and posting to social media
  • Coordinates the Employee Spotlight program featuring new employees each week on social media
  • Drafting and distributing quarterly AMEWAS newsletters using Canva
  • Keeping inventory on AMEWAS logo items and placing orders with appropriate vendors after HR Manager approval
  • Assisting with the Social Planning Committee; to include special projects to encourage health and wellness of our employees; interfacing with our health insurance company, Cigna, in relation to our annual wellness budget
  • Providing backup to HR & Recruiting as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Must-haves:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Up to 3 years’ administrative support experience
  • Must be proficient in MS Office products to include Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Must be proficient in Adobe PDF to include editing & preparing forms
  • Must be creative and have an interest in developing communications and marketing materials

Physical environment and working conditions:

The physical environment requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday.  Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about walking, standing, etc.

The employee may be required to walk short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site.  In some occasions, the employee may be required to drive to offices or buildings near the work site.  In rare occasions, travel may be required.
