AMEWAS, Inc. is seeking highly motivated Software Engineers of varying experience levels to provide support for a multitude of efforts and projects to include: the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD), Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS), Strike Planning and Execution Systems, Next-Generation Open Mission Services (NOMS), Electronic Knee Board (EKB), and NAVAIR 4.0P – the Airworthiness and CYBERSAFE Directorate’s Electronic Flight Clearance (eFC). These positions will support all aspects of development including design, prototyping, implementation, and testing of software products and features.  

The Software Engineers will be a part of a small, Agile development team.

A typical day as the Software Engineers:

  • Implement software features as part of a Scrum team:
    • Writing user stories in collaboration with the customer
    • Planning sprints
    • Developing features and presenting them
    • Repair bugs
    • Support the development effort
  • Participate in required Scrum Ceremonies
    • Daily stand-up/Scrum
    • Sprint reviews
    • Retrospectives
    • Sprint Planning Meeting
    • Backlog refinement

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Seeking all experience levels;  Junior (0-5 years), Mid-Level (5-10 years) and Senior (10+ years)
  • Experience in object-oriented languages and associated tooling, i.e. C++, Java or C#/.NET
  • Front-end web development experience using HTML5, Javascript, and CSS
  • Implementation of web application back-ends to store and serve user input using DBMS
  • Ability to rapidly implement web-based applications from wireframe mockups and design prototypes
  • Ability to work well in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET security clearance is required.

Desired Experience:

  • Experience utilizing databases relational and non-relational in nature, such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, H2, MySQL, MongoDB, and SQL Server
  • A deep knowledge of object-oriented design including architectural best practices and design patterns
  • Experience with service-oriented application architectures, specifically RESTful microservices
  • Development of Android and iOS mobile applications
  • Knowledge of XML, XSLT, DTDs, schemas, and related technologies
  • Experience with SPA frameworks such as Angular and React
  • Scripting languages, such as Python and Ruby
  • Linux server administration and configuration of CI/CD solutions
  • Experience working in agile environments, specifically on a Scrum team utilizing Atlassian software
  • Experience with JMPS Framework, or JMPS UPC and development
  • Experience with the GIT version control system
  • Experience with Next-Generation Open Mission Services (NOMS)

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required from an ABET accredited institution OR relevant work experience

Work Environment:

The physical environment requires the employee to work on-site at the government program office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday.  Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about walking, standing, etc.

The employee may be required to walk short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site.  In some occasions, the employee may be required to drive to offices or buildings near the work site.  In rare occasions, travel may be required.
