The Position:

AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Engineer (Datalink)-Journeyman to support Battlespace Modeling & Simulation. This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.

Position Background:

The Synthetic Environment Modeling (SEM) team develops the government owned, developed, and managed software product known as Next Generation Threat System (NGTS). NGTS supports modeling and simulation (M&S) environments; trainer systems; test and evaluation (T&E); analysis; live, virtual and constructive (LVC); research and development (R&D) activities for DoD agencies and its international partners. The Next Generation Threat System product is a continually evolving synthetic environment generator that supports multiple platform/services training, testing, analysis and research, and development.

 

A typical day as an Engineer (Datalink)-Journeyman may include:

  • Designs, documents, implements and tests Datalink Simulation Models and associated simulator hardware
  • Performs datalink software development based upon customer requirements
  • Preforms technical reviews of customer requirements and participates in test planning meetings
  • Develops test plans/procedures and schedules
  • Executes test events, collects data, conducts analysis and creates reports
  • Operates data link systems and equipment
  • Collaborates with team members
  • Interfaces with datalink models
  • Works with industry, SMEs and operators to push the state of the art in simulation used for platform Operational Test and high-end training

 

Must-haves:

  • BS Degree in Scientific or Engineering Discipline-Aerospace, Computer Science, Data Science, Software Systems, Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics may qualify as substitute
  • 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Technical experience with Datalink Link 16
  • Understanding of basic computer networking
  • Understanding of computer system design and software development (C++ Preferred)
  • The ability to communicate and present technical details both written and verbally
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

 

Desired Skills:

  • Technical experience with C Band, Ku Band and Common Data Link
  • Technical experience with Link 11 and OTH Gold
  • Technical experience with SADL, JREAP, Link-22, VMF, CSAR/CSEL and MADL
  • Knowledge of data analysis methods and tools
  • Th ability to evaluate tactical communications and emerging technologies
  • Experience with Linux Operating Systems

Physical Environment and Working Conditions:

The physical environment requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday.  Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.

 

The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site.  In some occasions, the employee may be required to report to offices or buildings near the work site.  In rare occasions, overnight travel may be required.
